I grew up in Jo Daviess county and attended the vocational center for health care my senior year. I attended Highland Community College earning a degree in nursing and became a registered nurse (RN). I went to Northern Illinois University to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing and finished my Master of Science in nursing education at Clarke University.

I have worked in hospitals in Rockford, Freeport, Peoria, and Galena. I served as the director of a federal grant in community work for rural health. I am an instructor for the “Stop the Bleed” campaign and carry certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Provider.

I currently serve on the state board for HOSA-Future Health Professionals along with advising the local chapter and am the awards chairman with the Health Occupation Educators.

I raise purebred Charolais cattle and farm with my dad and my children (K&D Cattle). My children have followed in my footsteps of health and education. My daughter is an agricultural education teacher and my son is a student at the University of Illinois with the goal of medical education or genetic researcher.
